I made these Pumpkin-Chickpea burgers with Cumin and needed some sort of sauce to go with it; sort of – complement the flavor and give it a little wetness. Sloppiness. While dry sandwiches are edible, people don’t normally go for a Good, Dry sandwich. (Unless you’re THAT person.) Think about it. The key component of a BLT is: Mayo. Grilled cheese? Gooey. Melty. We add tomatoes and pickles to burgers. And, top it off with condiments.
After making these burgers, I decided my sandwich needed some kick. A little… sloppiness. I tossed around 4 ingredients in a bowl (including water!) and came up with this Quick BBQ Sauce.
Super Quick BBQ Sauce
2 teaspoons ketchup
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon molasses
a pinch of ground nutmeg
Directions: Stir all items together in a small bowl until combined.
Makes: about 1 Tablespoon. Increase amounts to make more – that is, if you want to share.
